The area called La Garriga is a little known area where the Empordà meets the mountains. The rolling terrain is relatively flat, with only small changes in elevation. The approximately 1,245-hectare plain is divided into the municipalities of Llers, Avinyonet de Puigventós, Vilanant and a small section of Vilafant.

This is a typical Mediterranean stretch of the hike, with exceptional dry stone constructions that include terraces, walls, ditches and plots. Built and used by the region’s ancient inhabitants, their condition is precarious and special care must be taken to preserve (and restore) these architectural treasures.

The Llers trail starts on Carrer de Sant Quirze. Turn right and take the small section by the road at the roundabout, turning left on the marked path. Pass by Les Creus to the crossroads with the Itinerànnia AE193Les Brugueres, and turn left towards Vilanant.

Follow the yellow trail markers until the next crossroads, L'Olivet d'en Vicenç, and turn left in towards Avinyonet de Puigventós through Can Corella. Continue to follow the yellow trail markers to the Devesa d'en Falgarona and Puig d'en Roca. About 900 meters beyond Puig d'en Roca, take the trail on the left that returns to Llers along the Avenc de la Calma. At this point, follow the trail instead of the yellow markers. This is the old Figueres to Llers road, which connects with a paved road after 1.5 km. Take a left, and then walk along the cemetery after about 400 meters to return to Llers.
