This circular route invites us to discover a stretch of the Empordà plain from the coast of l'Escala to the village of Cinc Claus. The route starts at the l'Escala tourist information office, located in the square named Plaça de les Escoles. Go down towards the village centre along Carrer Enric Serra, passing by the church of Sant Pere and you vill eventually come the beach known as Platja de les Barques. Continue on this track, next to the coast, keeping to the left and following the GR marker. Go up the steps of Pedró and you vill come to a view point. Continue alongside the coast, now following the yellow "Itinerànnia" markers , along the street carrer del Mar d'en Manassa, where you will find some benches to sit on and admire the view. Then you come to platja de la Creu, where you must go up the steps and carry on next to the coast, following the road until you come to a side road that heads towards Sant Martí Empúries. Continue along this track, next to the sand dunes until you come to the end of the first cove where you must retrace your steps and get back on to the track. Go past the Hostal Empúries and carry on until you reach the village of Sant Martí d'Empúries. Just before you get to the village, take the lane on the left until you come to the road that skirts the picnic area and car park. When you reach the road, you will see a nao and a vertical Itinerànnia AE223 signpost.
Continue on towards Cinc Claus or l'Armentera along the side of the road. After 5 minutes, take a footpath on the right and you will come to the Itinerànnia AE238-Camí de Cinc Claus intersection, where you must take the path in the direction of l'Armentera. This track, bordered by tamerisk trees, will take you to Cinc Claus, where you have a spectacular view of mount Segalar and Ventalló mountain, in the south, and Pyrinees, to the west. You will reach Cinc Claus after a quarter of an hour approximately. You can visit this very historical village with its country houses and the church of Santa Reparada. Go back along the same track you took to get here until you come to the second turning on the right where you will see the intersection AE238, which you must now take in the direction of l'Escala via les Corts. The track then passes in front of a farm and an orchard area. Next cross the main road and follow the track across farmland and enjoy the magnificient view of the plain and the Montgrí massif in the background. Then follow the trail to the left, passing through an area of olive groves, fortified farmhouses and pine trees. Next continue along the track to the right until you reach the Albons to l'Escla main road. Cross the road following the camí ramader (cattle track), then turn left into the street Puig d'en Llop, where you will see an Itinerànnia map. Continue until the end of the street Closa del Llop, cross over and, keeping to the left, take the first turning on the right. You willo com to a pine wood, where you must take the path that runs through it. Carry on along the street Renoir until the pavilion, go up the street Rusiñol, past the schools and continue until you come to l'Escala tourist information office.
