Itinerary that discovers the natural environment and historical heritage of the Muga River in the Pincaró area, in the municipality of Albanyà. The route starts at Riera d'en Parada, follows the course of La Muga, crosses the walkway of La Molina and the Pont del Bertran, and takes us to Castell del Serrat and Colomer del Bertran, the singular ancient buildings
We park in the designated areas at Pont Nou, past the village of Albanyà and the Bassegoda Park Campsite, following the paved track on the left.
Find out about the regulation periods at www.altagarrotxa.org.
The route starts at the intersection of Itinerànnia AG25 Pont Nou, we follow the paved track in the direction indicated by Castell del Serrat.
On our right we have the riera d'en Parada where you can see a riparian forest in good condition that needs to be preserved. Continuing along the track we find different natural gorges, a refuge for freshwater species, for their conservation it is necessary to avoid dumping substances into the river.
In this stretch of track, we find a new crossing AG26 Can Ferrers, at this point the path leading to Sant Joan de Mussols, Bassegoda separates... from the one we follow, we go to the right.
After a few meters we find the Molina passage, through which we cross the Muga.
Following the yellow markings, take the path on the left and follow the signs towards the Castle, until you reach the AG27 junction under Castell del Serrat.
From this point we have a circular tour to visit Bertran's bridge, the dovecote and the castle.
Our recommendation is to head first in the direction of the Pont d'en Bertran, a bridge from 1891, unique for its construction with three semicircular arches. The floor of the bridge still retains the original paving.
After crossing it we go to the left and approach the Camp del Serrat where we find the old Colomer d'en Bertran and further on the Castell del Serrat, some constructions of medieval origin that are believed to date from the 11th century and XII.
After the castle we will follow the signs until we reach the AG27 junction, from here we will go back the way we came to return to the start of the route.
