Solans and Catllar path. Route 2 Setcases

This circular route allows you to discover the sunny side of Setcases, known as the solans, and the Catllar huts. It is a peaceful walk that combines open meadows, Scots pine forests, and magnificent views over the village of Setcases and the mountains enclosing the Camprodon Valley.

From the centre of Setcases, head towards the junction R102 Setcases, then take the direction of R103 Setcases – Carrer de la Font. The path runs between the village houses along this street, lined with stone walls and slate roofs, and continues to R103B Carrer de la Font, where it leaves the village and begins a gentle climb.

The path enters the forest beside old stone walls. With a gentle slope, it reaches a small rocky outcrop where the route changes direction. Next, there is a livestock fence. Beyond this point, the path descends slightly until it reaches the Pastuira stream (Clot dels Solans), which must be crossed. The route continues, almost level, to reach the Clot de Pastissol, a small mountain stream. Shortly afterwards, with a more pronounced descent, the path arrives at the bend of the Cabanyes del Catllar track, where the S5 junction is found, and continues down a wide track.

In some sections, the forest opens up to reveal wide views of the Costabona and Puig de les Agudes peaks.

The return section to Setcases is very flat and pleasant. The path runs among almond, ash and arching beech trees, creating a cool, shaded atmosphere. After the wooded area, it crosses a livestock passage and continues to the stream, passing through a series of meadows and enclosures.
At the Pastuira stream, the route continues through pastureland along the left bank of the Ter River for about two hundred metres. It then passes near the water treatment plant and continues straight ahead to reach the roundabout at the entrance to Setcases, where the circuit closes.
