Ventaiola route. Ruta 5 Vall de Ribes

Charming and short route. From the Ribesaltes lookout, get the most out of the unbeatable views of the Taga, Ribes de Freser and Serra de Montgrony, and enjoy the picnic area and the information board you’ll find. The castle devoted to Saint Peter is a well-worth visit. Please respect the cattle and close all the fences you find along the route.

The starting point of this circular route to Ventaiola is the sign R123 at the foot of castell de Sant Pere. Several metres away, there is the sign RF3 that shows the time left to arrive at the farm Mas Ventaiola (15 minutes) by following an uphill concrete road that passes by Hotel Resguard dels Vents. At Ventaiola there is the sign RF11. Keep going up progressively by following the dirt road to Ribesaltes. This flat road on some stretches becomes a wonderful balcony to enjoy Ribes de Freser and its surroundings. It leads to the sign R118.

From here, keep walking on the direction of Pardines to find, some metres away, a new sign RF4 Can Nadal that gets back again to castell de Sant Pere after a 25-minutes’ walk. Pass by the side of the fence to take the path. Go down through a first easy meadow stretch, seeing the town always in front of you. Then get into the forest trail that leads to the Sant Pere residential area in Ribes de Freser. Finally, cross the castle and arrive at the starting point again.
